Frequently Asked Questions
We put the 'OUTING in ScOUTING". Our
"Outdoor Program" is very active. The troop goes camping every
month, during the school year. During the summer we will attend two (week
long) summer camps (at least one out of state camp), plus numerous other
activities throughout the year.
Boy Scout Patrols are much like Cub Scout
Dens. Each patrol will consist of 8-12 boys of about the same age. Each Patrol
will be guided by 2-4 adults. One of these adults will be an experienced
Assistant Scout Master (ASM) who is already familiar with Troop 787
operations. The other adults assigned to the Patrol will come from the new
leaders who have recently joined the troop. In addition, each patrol will be
assigned one or more troop guides, who are senior scouts in our troop.
Most questions can be answered by your
Primary Assistant Scout Master. If he does not know the answer he will know
where the answer can be found.
Another great resource is the troop web
site (which you are now at). In addition to the Calendar and tools
sections, we maintain several troop e-mail lists. Because of the large number
of Scouts and Leaders, E-Mail is just another way to keep everyone informed.
We have the following mailing lists:
FYE List - E-Mail list dedicated to the
scouts in our FYE program. Subscribe here
General troop list - General list for all
troop activities. Subscribe here
Leaders List - This list is for registered
leaders only. Subscribe here.
Alert List - This is a special email list
where you can receive notifications to your cell phone in the event of last
minute events (such as bad weather) . When asked for your email address, enter
the email address of your cell phone. If you do not know the email address of
your cell phone, please check with your cellular carrier or contact the
